Black Desert is a third-person action game by Korean developer Pearl Abyss. The title can be classified as a sandbox-oriented massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) which offers players unprecedented freedom. You need to love exploration and be able to engage challenging enemies in a heartbeat if you want to succeed.
A few days ago, Black Desert's Executive Producer Jae-Hee Kim reveals upcoming plans for the popular MMORPG. One of the most spectacular announcements made was the "Shadow Arena," a new battle royale mode. In Shadow Arena, every player starts as a "Black Spirit" and needs to find a fallen adventurer and possess her. By destroying supply crates and defeating computer-controlled enemies, players can accumulate equipment and skills. When everyone is killed except for one, the match ends.
Today, the company opened preorders for the title. There are a few packages to choose from, with the Ultimate Edition giving you 72-hour early access and a lot of other bonuses for $99.99. Luckily, the Standard Edition only costs $29.99, but you'll only be able to play it a day early. It seems like granting those who pay more early access is a new industry trend. Black Desert should launch on March 1, 2019 for the Ultimate Edition group.
Black Desert is supposedly targeting native 4K resolution on Xbox One X. Since Black Desert appears to be a graphically-intensive experience, hopefully Pearl Abyss will utilize a dynamic rendering solution which automatically lowers the resolution when it senses a dip in performance. However, maybe the team will come up with another way to get better results in populated areas.
